We got to meet the owner who was so kind as to give us complimentary hummus with beef and so up with my hand to order a few of must-have, thinly rolled, newly-cooked pita bread that is lovingly kept warm in a napkin blanket. Tearing off a piece to use to scoop out a mouthful of hummus which is made from chickpeas and olive oil, provided an incredible taste and texture sensation. To order the hummus with pita bread is already filling but since my Maxi and I have tummies that can deal with unli eating, tackling the other dishes was for good eats. The beef kebabs had the depth of flavor that comes with a blend of spices and it was not charbroiled to carcenogenic. Soft, tasty, filling kebabs make the perfect meal with basmati rice.
The basmati rice won my heart. The elongated, long grains of rice, that curve slightly to taper the tips of both ends of the grain, how these grains lie in the pillow puff state separate, and how a dab of butter can hold these together, enhancing the flavor of the one of the healthiest kinds of rice to consume as it contains no sugar. The basmati rice may be eaten without butter, as it has that natural grain flavor with a texture that makes it so different from the cooked rice that us Filipinos are accustomed to. Basmati rice is lightly aromatic, as the scent may be detected when it is served smoking hot at Behrouz.
The next time I went to Behrouz BF was the day after the birthday of my daughter, Maxi Quema. We had planned to go to an Italian restaurant the day before to celebrate her special day but knowing that that place was costly and we still wanted to go shopping after a late lunch, so budget-wise, for something new to eat and for her to be able to try the perfectly grilled, succulent tomatoes, we went to Behrouz.
Rich Persian cuisine is made affordable by Behrouz. This is one of the few restaurants that provide the healthy food choices with magnificence that makes one think about the wonders of Persia, and enjoy it with affordable prices.
Behrouz Persian Cuisine Food: Beginner's Exploration
Ordering exactly the same dishes twice when I just went to the BF Behrouz branch twice is to be noted as the food items that I have tried have become trigger foods that make me desire to have the same meal again and again.
The first time that I went to BF Behrouz was upon invite after midnight, after we had a few drinks with our Wednesday group. The friend that was with me was a consultant, who noted that the menu at this branch had a cover, and I could see how all things in the restaurant was being assessed, such as the number of tables and chairs and the pricing on the menu, comparing it with the other Behrouz branch. Since I have only eaten at Behrouz at Metrowalk once, ordering the ox brain and the hummus with pita bread, I willingly allowed my friend to decide what to order - and it was basmati rice, grilled tomatoes, and beef kebabs. I could not eat a whole order of rice, so it was just half an order with a whole dab of butter.
Behrouz BF is now one of my favorite places to dine at as it provides healthy grilled food and basmati rice that has been cooked in the traditional Persian manner to perfection. Behrouz has the edge among other restaurants that provide the same cuisines as with the dishes that I have tried, the prices are affordable, such as that for the basmati rice which has the same price as ordinary rice in some other restaurants.
I am excited to go back to dine at this resto to try their other dishes that I saw in the Behrouz Facebook page.
Behrouz Persian Cuisine is located at 226 Aguirre Avenue, BF Homes Paranaque. The other branches are at 63 Scout Tobias St. Timog, Quezon City; at the ground floor, right front part of Metrowalk, Meralco Ave, Pasig City; at Wilson St. San Juan, and at Santana Grove, Sucat, Paranaque.
