Novuhair Supports Alopecia Areata Awareness in Celebrating Inner Strength

September marks the month-long commemoration of Alopecia Areata awareness worldwide. Alopecia areata is a condition when hair loss occur due to faults in the immune system attacking the hair follicles which results in partial or total loss of hair on the head and other parts of the body.

Leading this year’s celebration in the country is Alopecia Philippines, a group founded by singer and songwriter Abby Asistio in 2012. She has been championing the cause of empowering citizens with this condition. Abby is no stranger to alopecia, having been diagnosed with alopecia areata since she was four years old. Abby’s decision to come out in public with her condition was a major turning point in her life.

On September 2012, Abby decided to start an online campaign in time with Alopecia Awareness Month by inviting family and friends to pose with the double “A” (inverted “V”) sign using their fingers on the photo sharing site, Instagram. It quickly caught on and Abby was overwhelmed by the response from netizens, with over a thousand photo contributions to date.

This paved the way for the beginnings of Alopecia Philippines. It aims to raise awareness about alopecia and correct common misconceptions and perceptions about it, provide encouragement to people afflicted with it, and create an online support community for them.

Inspired by Abby’s honesty and courage, men and women, kids and teens from different walks of life began sharing their own stories and struggles living with alopecia. What started out as a group of ten is now more than 300 members strong and its Facebook page – Alopecia Areata Awareness, draws followers from all over the world. Novuhair has been supporting the cause for Alopecia Philippines through Abby Asistio.

Abby have been using the brand continuously since March 2013 and she has only praises to share using the product. Nature has provided a safe and effective answer to hair loss and scalp disorders.

UNO Event and Product Review: Health, Wealth, and Friends

An UNO member and me
Attending an UNO event won me friends, added to the wellness and helpful information my life - and the amazing power of how networking can make people earn made the UNO Product Fair held last August 27, 2016 at SMX Aura one that did make a difference, not just to me, but to my immediate family, and those who attended.

It was an excellent opportunity to explore the financial opportunity of networking thought that is not me, I do know of many who have made a lot of money from such ventures.

With UNO products, quality is the reason why it is easy to sell and invite members.

Pickled Plums taste testing area

Blood testing

The place was filled with smiling, friendly people, nearly all carrying UNO eco-friendly bags and boxes of products. From reception, to the purchasing area, to the sampling booths for the pickled plums and the soap, and for the free blood test, all was organized. The atmosphere was very relaxed and even when I was leaving, I had people talking to me, asking when I started UNO as I also had the eco-friendly bag, and these turned out to be longer talks about how being with this networking company had positive effects in their lives. Most people were there in small groups and there were families too, no kids though, as it was a business event.

UNO Cappuccino Product Review

Per box contains 20 sachets

The primary ingredients are coffee cappuccino base which delivers that anti-oxidant powers and the perks of coffee, and it is delicious. The other two primary ingredients which are guyabano, know for it's cancer-fighting power, and moringa which is malunggay, that is considered as a superfood due to it's high nutrition profile.

This coffee is better for the health than an ordinary cup, as it provides additional nutritional elements. The taste of the guyabano and the malunggay cannot be discerned. My family enjoyed the cappuccino just like any other coffee, and it is good to know that is is healthy, making the difference in our daily coffee consumption. It makes one feel full and the satisfaction stems from the wellness that was drank, and the goodness of the liquid form has nearly immediate effects on the body, making the perky feeling of coffee more enhance.

The direct benefits of wellness was not felt due to the fact that I do not have the targeted health concerns such as cancer or nutritional imbalance and this product must be taken for a while to gain the results - but as a nutritional supplement and preventive measure, I will take UNO cappuccino, as the effects of such coffee means that I do have the daily additional intake.

UNO cappuccino may be drank hot or cold. It is easy to dissolve. The scent of coffee is not powerful, and it has a creamy, thick consistency. When adding ice, make sure to dissolve the power well first, in warm water, it will take time but in hot water, it is easy to do. Even rather diluted, if not following the exact measurements, it still taste good. One sachet can be divided in to two servings and like all coffee, the recommended intake should not exceed 3 cups a day.

Follow and like UNO to learn more and be part of the prosperity in health and wellness, and gain friends.

My eBook Insights: ReFresh: The Liquid Diet Guide

I wrote a book which was about how to go on a liquid diet. This ebook, entitled "ReFresh: The Liquid Diet Guide" is available on all online bookstores such as Amazon, Google Play store, and Kindle - and I think that I over-priced it so I don't have a lot of sales but I will just leave that ebook there as I plan to have it published by a offline bookstore.

Here's the Amazon link to my ebook https://www.amazon.com/ReFresh-Liquid-Cindy-P-Dominguez-ebook/dp/B00VGLVAVK

Since the heat is on here in the Philippines, I have been high on beverages, as in not "high" like taking drugs - but bringing up my liquid intake.

There are a lot of beverages and my choices are typically for those that will make me feel full. Fresh fruit shakes are great. Coffee, especially the cold ones with whipped cream are wonderful but I don't indulge in those very often as the calorie intake is sky high.

I burn calories easily as I have a fast metabolism, and I spur it even more by going on the edge of hunger. That is because when hungry, the body begins to tap into the fat in the cells, converting it into energy.

When I feel hungry, I drink cold water to feel full. The cold water intake triggers a process, making the body work to make it feel warm, thus burning calories.
\
I am high on beverages during these hot months, and I drink so much water that I surely exceed the recommended 8 glasses of water a day. I do not drink water to flush out toxins as I drink tea for that. Summer means fruit shakes and I should go for vegetable-based drinks like that of water with cucumbers, keeping in mind that the vegetable must be eaten as the fiber is vital too, as that isn't there just for decor or to "extract" the goodness. Today, I should go to the market to buy vegetables but then, I don't feel like leaving the house. So, I will make tea to detox and drink a lot of water to get "high on beverages".

Choose your beverages wisely - especially if one has health concerns.

I Won a Food Blogger's Contest! Manong's Lechon Cebu Blogapalooza 2015

Winning isn't everything, it's just my thing.

Blogapalooza 2015 was a business to blogger event. It was held on Oct. 25 at One Esplanade which is near the famous Manila bay. The event had a lot of booths and one of them was Manong's Lechon Cebu. "Lechon" means roasted pig.

I was one of the first bloggers to arrive at the event. The reason why I arrived early was to make sure that I was in the front of the line for the food tasting of Manong's Lechon Cebu which was scheduled for 11 am. And, it was a good thing that I arrived early as there was so mush activities like games. My youngest daughter was with me, and we won a few prizes that day.

Before the stated time, I stood in line waiting for the sample as Cebu Lechon is one of my favorite food. And, while waiting in line, I was witness to the expert chopping procedure of a whole pig. The cleaving was precise and there were no bits and pieces flinging, and it was fast process. The lechon was divided into 3, and then to large portions, then to bite sizes, then it would be topped with the correct ratio of the crispy skin.

As I knew there was a contest, I was studying all the factors that should be written about. A few days after the event, the owner of Manong's Cebu Lechon upon my request, sent me the mechanics. I kept on thinking of what to write and how to make a winning product review, so it took me a while to finish the post - and for a while means days!

I had written the first draft but I wasn't happy with it. What I wrote sounded boring. Then, it dawned on me, that the reason why my family and I love lechon was because of many factors, aside from the fact that it is a festive dish. So I deleted the draft, place detailed food descriptions, and then started a mission, that hopefully can make a change for our country - as the National Food right now is called "Adobo" which does not have a standardized recipe - and it should be "Lechon".

To my delight, it was recently announced that my blog post entry was one of the two that won a lechon de leche (roasted suckling pig).

I would like to thank Blogapalooza 2015 organizers and Roland Panares, owner of Manong's Lechon Cebu.
It is an honor to be chosen as the winner of this food blogging contest.
I would also like to request that a movement be started to change the National Food of the Philippines to be lechon as it does identify our culture and even our sharing, hospitable nature, and festivities.

Behrouz Persian Cuisine: Magnificently Healthy

We got to meet the owner who was so kind as to give us complimentary hummus with beef and so up with my hand to order a few of must-have, thinly rolled, newly-cooked pita bread that is lovingly kept warm in a napkin blanket. Tearing off a piece to use to scoop out a mouthful of hummus which is made from chickpeas and olive oil, provided an incredible taste and texture sensation. To order the hummus with pita bread is already filling but since my Maxi and I have tummies that can deal with unli eating, tackling the other dishes was for good eats. The beef kebabs had the depth of flavor that comes with a blend of spices and it was not charbroiled to carcenogenic. Soft, tasty, filling kebabs make the perfect meal with basmati rice. The basmati rice won my heart. The elongated, long grains of rice, that curve slightly to taper the tips of both ends of the grain, how these grains lie in the pillow puff state separate, and how a dab of butter can hold these together, enhancing the flavor of the one of the healthiest kinds of rice to consume as it contains no sugar. The basmati rice may be eaten without butter, as it has that natural grain flavor with a texture that makes it so different from the cooked rice that us Filipinos are accustomed to. Basmati rice is lightly aromatic, as the scent may be detected when it is served smoking hot at Behrouz.

The next time I went to Behrouz BF was the day after the birthday of my daughter, Maxi Quema. We had planned to go to an Italian restaurant the day before to celebrate her special day but knowing that that place was costly and we still wanted to go shopping after a late lunch, so budget-wise, for something new to eat and for her to be able to try the perfectly grilled, succulent tomatoes, we went to Behrouz.

Rich Persian cuisine is made affordable by Behrouz. This is one of the few restaurants that provide the healthy food choices with magnificence that makes one think about the wonders of Persia, and enjoy it with affordable prices.

Behrouz Persian Cuisine Food: Beginner's Exploration
Ordering exactly the same dishes twice when I just went to the BF Behrouz branch twice is to be noted as the food items that I have tried have become trigger foods that make me desire to have the same meal again and again.
The first time that I went to BF Behrouz was upon invite after midnight, after we had a few drinks with our Wednesday group. The friend that was with me was a consultant, who noted that the menu at this branch had a cover, and I could see how all things in the restaurant was being assessed, such as the number of tables and chairs and the pricing on the menu, comparing it with the other Behrouz branch. Since I have only eaten at Behrouz at Metrowalk once, ordering the ox brain and the hummus with pita bread, I willingly allowed my friend to decide what to order - and it was basmati rice, grilled tomatoes, and beef kebabs. I could not eat a whole order of rice, so it was just half an order with a whole dab of butter.
Behrouz BF is now one of my favorite places to dine at as it provides healthy grilled food and basmati rice that has been cooked in the traditional Persian manner to perfection. Behrouz has the edge among other restaurants that provide the same cuisines as with the dishes that I have tried, the prices are affordable, such as that for the basmati rice which has the same price as ordinary rice in some other restaurants.

I am excited to go back to dine at this resto to try their other dishes that I saw in the Behrouz Facebook page.

Behrouz Persian Cuisine is located at 226 Aguirre Avenue, BF Homes Paranaque. The other branches are at 63 Scout Tobias St. Timog, Quezon City; at the ground floor, right front part of Metrowalk, Meralco Ave, Pasig City; at Wilson St. San Juan, and at Santana Grove, Sucat, Paranaque.

Z Hostel: My Luxury Hostel in the Philippines Experience

Z bedThe luxurious hostel experience of Z Hostel makes the diff and saves the worldwide reputation of hostels. There are many hostels around the world have gained a horrible reputation, to include that of having bed bugs, lousy facilities, and even the guest being fooled by the pictures of the accommodations that were shown on the website. With Z Hostel, what you see on the site is what it is and the experience is leveled up by the chill vibes - and I would like to share with you my overnight experience so you may get a closer look and know, more or less, what to expect.
Z Hostel is located in Makati, Phillippines. Makati is the center of the business district and this hostel is right at the most fun part of the city - where the bars are. It is also near one of classiest malls, which is Power Plant. Accessing the place is easy via public transportation and it is an easy walk from the hostel to the convenience stores, drug store, hotels, and restos. Aside from dorm room hostel accommodations, Z Hostel has rooms for couples. It has an affordable restaurant and a roof deck bar.

My Z Hostel Experience

After booking online, I checked in at 2:00 pm. All I had to do was place in my email and phone number, and that made the check-in process a breeze. Got the room key card and an RFID to use for financial transactions around the hostel, and this one was loaded with around 25 dollars. Saw my friends in the lobby as I entered the place, and they were there, chilling on the sofa. At this hostel, wifi is the air that you breathe.
It is no-smoking place so I had to step out of the hostel, go to the roof deck, or use the bathroom in the dorm room to get my nicotine fix. The place is quite secure, as there are guards nearly everywhere aside from staff members, and CCTV cameras. The staff is efficient, not cloyingly smiley, and the relaxed atmosphere of this backpackers dream rest place made me feel so chill, as I could wear slippers, no makeup, and my most comfortable outfits. Z Dorm RelaxingComing in after a long trip from the North of Manila, the relaxed feeling started the minute I stepped in. After storing my bag, I had dinner with my friends to enjoy a Filipino food favorite called "bagnet" - a slab of pork that has been deep fried twice so it achieves a super crunchy skin and so that the fat and meat create a whole new level of taste and texture. It is a must-have for those who eat pork. The ordering process was easy, just use the RFID to click on the table, and the transaction is completed - and the food arrived fast. Z RFID Fortified, it was party time at the top! The bar had a large selection of drinks, to include cocktails and hard liquor, and though I wanted to take a couple of shots of my preferred warming malt whiskey or that of the giddy Grey Goose vodka, I stuck to cold beer. The party atmosphere was friendly, smiling faces, showing the good vibes that exist in the place, and I made friends easily. No snubs around Z Hostel, that's for sure, and it doesn't matter what you wear, as it chill always as people accept you and befriend you the way you are. Totally no issues, and this dude moved quickly aside when he noticed that I was going to take a peekture of the "Good Vibes" sign at the bar.

Z Acoustic Night Though I would have liked to party all night, I had to rest and post a few pics, and of course, wash up and brush my teeth before sleeping. The dorm experience was totally new to me. I don't mind the sounds of sleeping and hope I did not inflict anyone with my sleeping sounds. The other people in the room were all sleeping soundly but I stayed awake until around 4 am as I was thinking. The room provide a refuge, a quiet place to think, removing myself from the distractions and the humdrum of daily life. The sheets were cool and smooth, the room was spotlessly clean, and the small shelf with the stand and the light on the wall beside my bed was like a dream come true that I didn't even know that I wanted.
In the morning, I heard my name, asking if I was awake. After a little less than 4 hours sleep, I had to say yes as it was a working staycation, and I wanted to say yes as I was having a grand time with the two other bloggers with me and refuse not to be part of whatever we can do during the last few minutes of our stay. After the buffet breakfast, I used one of the PCs in the lobby area, went back to the room to relax, and checked out at the very last minute. Z PCs
Leaving Z Hostel, while waiting for the cab that was booked by the reception, we sat down on the steps, the wind rustling our hair - to simply show how the cobwebs in the mind has disappeared. A chill, luxurious, pampering stay, filled with good vibes is what my Z Hostel experience is.
ZI would like to thank the two bloggers, Maria Rona Beltran and Lani Mesias Suazon, that so kindly said yes to covering this hostel in the Philippines upon my invitation, without any hesitation, and for the fun while working blogger's lifestyle overnight stay that we that we shared.

Go Bowling in BF: More Fun in the South

A wholesome fun activity, to go bowling is one of the things to do. Yet, in the South, there are not much places to bowl at - and you may not be aware of the fact that one can go bowling at The Village Sports Club at BF Homes even if they are not a member.
The Village Sports Club is located at El Grande avenue corner Tropical Avenue, BF Homes, Parañaque. This expansive, first-class sports club sits on a 1.8 hectare property and has probably the best sports facilities in the South such as the basketball court that Manny Pacquiao plays at often.
Except for bowling, one does have to be a member to enjoy using their facilities. The international-certified facilities include that for basketball, tennis, badminton, and more. There are other sports and leisure activities at The Village Sports Club that addresses the need for a healthy, sporty, lifestyle such as the gym, the pool, the running area, and the spa.
Bowling at The Village Sports Club
Open to non-members, the Qubica AMF 8-lane bowling area is the place to go in the South as it offers more than the other ones, as it has the exclusivity. You'll get to use the latest hi-tech scoring system, touch screen consoles, and the Qubica AMF house balls. To rent shoes costs only 35 pesos, and bring socks if you can or buy a new pair at only 100 bucks.

Gourmet for the Gourmand: Steveston Pizza

Caveman: Steveston Pizza
Loaded with quality ingredients, Steveston Pizza provides excellent value for money. Comparatively speaking, according to price, certain pizzas like their pepperoni does give you a bigger pizza and the generous helping of ingredients. All their pizzas are 12 inches and their pepperoni costs only 399 as you can see here on the Zomato menu.

The other Steveston pizzas cannot be compared as there is no other place that serves such gourmet pizza with such hefty toppings such as the Caveman, with the picture featured on the top of the post, which is loaded up to nearly an inch high with pepperoni, bacon, lean beef, and capocolli. This pizza is amazing, and two slices will fix the pizza crazing and make the average person feel fully satisfied. And, the pizza toppings don't fall off when you lift it up, a true slice of loaded pizza without the heavy crust on the bottom or the sides.

The crust of their pizza is a wonder of distinction. It is crispy, yet not that thin. The edges are not fat and plump, like most pizza, making it not added bread bite but one that has ingredients as far as allowable.

The gourmet ingredients used is visible, as these are larger that most. Now, as you will see from these pictures, one has smoked salmon, and that was such large pieces, and there were enormous shrimps - superlatives can describe Steveston Pizza, and there is more in every bite than most others, it is a deep dish delight without the sides.

What made me go to a place that was on the other side of town, bear all traffic, even when it was raining? It took me 3 hours to get to their Corinthian Clubhouse branch from BF Homes Paranaque, but it was worth the trip. The reason why I went was because I got great feedback from a friend, Anton la Rosa Silos, a real estate broker, who said that he had eaten at their Circuit Makati branch and the pizza was fantastic.

Bloggers Sharing Homemade Ice Cream
Strawberry, Langka, Avocado
Steveston Pizza has one of the best homemade ice creams that I have tried. The avocado is a must-have. Their beverages include apple cider which is the real thing, and an assortment of cold beverages and great coffee.

If you have been wanting more in a pizza, then you would have to go to Steveston Pizza.

They currently have 3 branches which are located at UP Town Center, Circuit Makati, and the one I visited which is in Corinthian Clubhouse.

Like the Steveston Pizza Facebook page to see more of the food that they offer.

Hotel Jen at Night: Windows By The Bay Part I

After watching the sunset with the 180 degrees view at the exclusive Club Lounge, the clock ticks and at 7 pm, this lounge becomes Windows by the Bay, for one to enjoy the fascinating view of Manila Bay at night from what has been said to be the best vantage point in this area.

Hotel Jen was formerly Traders Hotel. It is located along Roxas Blvd, Manila, and right in front of it is the Cultural Center of the Philippines. The top of this hotel has large scenic windows, a place that was created to watch the ever changing, fascinating view.

Many people are aware of the fact that the sunset at Manila Bay is famous, and that is one of the reasons why international travelers come to our country. The choices that we have to view this famous sunset are limited to the breakwater area that runs the entire stretch of Roxas Blvd. to Luneta Park but then, staying beside the sea, right now, is a not so delightful experience because of the pollution in this area. And, the view from the bayside is limited, as the top of Hotel Jen offers more of the view of the sky and the setting sun, to include the vast entertainment and hotel complex.

Classy comfort is what you can expect at Windows by the Bay, the night place created with romantic evenings and luxury lounging in mind.

Click this link to watch the video of the singer and get a sneak peak of the view

The Hotel Jen ExperienceThe rainy night of the kind invitation by the place to blog about it, made the trip a tasking one. My business partner was coming in from Bulacan to join me as we had a meeting after the event, and his trip took 4 hours, while mine from the south was double the usual time. The rainy weather made us get stuck there at Window by the Bay, as we could see from the top the traffic situation that was like a parking lot.

Being stuck with delicatessen, cheese, and unlimited beverages, and live entertainment at Windows by the Bay provided a pleasant time, as we were able to relax and enjoy the place.

I firmly believe, since we were the first set of bloggers to arrive to launch the place, that the menu at that time was still limited, and the service crew was still lacking. From what I see from new blog posts, the menu has been expanded and maybe, the service would be up to hotel standard now. Yet, note, that the Club Lounge service was impeccable, and the food and drinks were excellent. That transition will surely happen, and I would like to repeat the experience so that I might be able to update the readers on any improvements.

Going to Windows by the Bay is an experience that should not be missed by the international and local community. The view is so excellent that it should be included in tours.

For a more comprehensive review with view pictures and all, and to be fair to Hotel Jen, as the start up issues of the place was experience by me and my guest,  this blog post is have a Part II.
