We celebrate life with occasions such as the Grand Wellness Day.
It encompasses more things than a simple get-together. It is a call to action.

Registration and free blood-pressure checkup
Many of the women arrived ahead of time. They were lounging at the balcony area, all dressed up in red, and ready for the Zumba party. The registration was according to number, and that'll be the spot the person will stay at during the dancing as the wide expansive floor was marked with numbers. The numbering is important and staying in the spot as it was to be used by the judges for deciding who will get the various prizes at the end of the party. On the same table, there was a blood pressure check-up. All the participants and non-participants were able to check their blood pressure for free.
Launch of a donation campaign
The Grand Wellness Day began with an awareness campaign for the less fortunate. It was the launch of the donation drive of the barangay with the charming and beautiful Kagawad Cielo Lazatin spearheading the noblesse oblige campaign. There was also a product tasting for an all-natural kids product which is Byba. There were unique large inflatable balls with a hollow center that the children were allowed to play with.

Zumba party
The next part was the much-awaited Zumba party which was 120 minutes of dancing. There was a bevy of professional dance instructors who had the moves and the grooves to make the exercise routine fun. The choice of music went from slow for the warm-up, to funtastic, then the cool down. There were short breaks in between each song, and a long break after the first hour. Here's our fun selfie video at the start of the event.
A red party
Then there was the awarding of prizes. It was the moment that some had been hoping for, though most attended as they are regulars to the Zumba group. They also brought a few friends along, as the number of attendees that signed up ahead of did arrive. There were a small number of latecomers that flowed in, all wearing red, in the spirit of the theme.
If you are from BF or have ever graced Robinsons Townsville with your presence to go shopping at Robinsons Supermarket, Daiso, and Handyman, you might have been one of those who watched with fascination the energetic women who dance to Zumba music every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon.
To join the regular Zumba sessions costs only 50 pesos. Everyone is welcome to walk-in and be part of the exercise group. I have often watched, and did join the dancing party of the Grand Wellness Day, and the result? I was glowing. I never thought that I could go dance that long - yet thanks to the music, the instructors, and the encouragement of the women, saying that just stand and keep moving slowly when you are tired, I was able to Zumba.
