MERZCI Bacolods Best Pasalubong

MERZCI is the trade name of CM & SONS FOOD PRODUCTS, INC. It is the leading bread and food pasalubong producer in Bacolod City and the island of Negros. It carries a wide array of product lines, namely, BAKESHOP, FAST FOOD, PASALUBONG, and PURIFIED WATER.

The company maintains optimum standards in its manufacturing processes and is constantly updating and improving its product lines. Along with its constant improvements, it strives to deliver customer satisfaction by bringing the highest “Value for Money” to its customers.

In 2014, following its trademark application with the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPO), the trade name got updated from Merci to Merzci. With the update in the name, came the upgrades and improvements of the company to produce better products and services to its customers. Thus, launching the brand in October 2014 as “The New and Improved MERZCI”. The addition of the letter Z in the name signifies that the company has been gearing up and focusing on targeting the GENERATION Z as the main market of its products and services. Customers can expect more from the company in the succeeding years – new products, more branches, improved customer service, and new ways to experience, share and be part of MERZCI.

As of Jan 2018, the company is manned by a 1, 600-strong workforce more or less, with each department effectively working together to produce and maintain quality products for its customers.

CORPORATE VISION
Merzci will be a TOP LEADING BRAND in the Philippine Bakery Industry in Bakeshop and Pasalubong that is aggressively present NATIONWIDE serving quality and reasonably-priced products.

COMPANY MISSION
The company aims to continually provide its consumers with the highest quality products and services to maximize their money’s worth:
·         By opening outlets and satellites hubs in key towns and cities in the Philippines.
·         By hiring and training qualified and competent employees.
·         By delivering high-quality products with the best value for money.
·         By using state-of-the-art technology and manufacturing equipment and practices.
·         By being innovative with current trends in the national and global markets.
·         By broadening reach through traditional and non-traditional channels.

COMPANY ROOTS
CM & Sons Food Products, Inc. was established as a family enterprise in 1995 in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental. Its products are marketed under the trade name “Merci” a French word meaning “thank you”. Though the trade name is undergoing a rebranding process from Merci to Merzci, the company still believes that it will remain competitive in the food market.

Merzci started as a small bakery, supplying bread to a single store at the Libertad Market. Eventually, its popularity became undeniable due to a growing satisfied customer pool. With its high-quality bread at affordable prices, combined with aggressive marketing strategies and the ingenuity of youth, it did not take long for the company to establish its own branches around the city and supply products to satellite dealers all over the province.

Merzci also evolved into a fast food restaurant serving scrumptious and affordable snacks and short-order meals for people on the go.

Complementing its food line, it diversified its business interests in 2003 with the introduction of its bottled purified water brands distributed around Negros Island, namely MERCI PURIFIED DRINKING WATER and VITALIFE PURIFIED DRINKING WATER. Despite competition from national brands, the two brands successfully sliced a big share in the province’s purified water market in only a few months’ time and up to present. The water brand is also expected to follow suit in the rebranding of its trade name.

The success of CM & Sons Food Products, Inc. may very well be attributed to its ability to cope with the emergence of new markets and opportunities.

In January 2005, CM & Sons launched its newest line – MERZCI PASALUBONG TREATS, to cater to the growing tourist and balikbayan crowd that regularly come to the province. The pasalubong treats have gained a massive “suki” consumer crowd that prompted the company to open its first pasalubong center in Singcang, Bacolod City in September 2005. This branch is only about five minutes away from the old Bacolod Airport which, at that time, gained wide acceptance among the locals and travelers alike. Seven months later, a second pasalubong center emerged in Mandalagan in April 2006, which now caters mainly to travelers leaving the city on the way to the north of the island. In 2008, when the New Bacolod-Silay Airport was opened to the public a new branch conveniently located at the Departure Area was opened for its customers who are always on the go. And, most recently last February of 2013, BREDCO Branch was established to cater to Iloilo-Panay travelers making it a point that, indeed, Merzci will always be a part of a traveler’s Bacolod experience.

For more than two decades, the company has produced quality products from bread to pastries to Visayan delicacies to short order meals and even purified water. Products are made available in the different branches and dealers in the Negros Island, Panay, even reaching as far as Tuguegarao City in the North, Zamboanga City, Manila, and Cebu. Some products are also exported by distributors to Canada, the USA, and other parts of the world.

Believing in the power of advertising and promotions, the company employs various media exposures such as television, radio, print, and even social media to reach its varied target markets. Special events such as concerts, tourism and sports events, and other special activities are also considered by the company as avenues to reach new markets.

A Sea of Zs: Sino may Z? MERZCI!
A sea of “Zs” exploded at the 35th Masskara Festival at Bacolod’s Lacson Tourism Strip last October 16-19, 2014.

Launching the New and Improved MERZCI, Bacolod’s favorite pasalubong center, bakeshop, and fast food brought four nights of hyperfun – live band music, games, prizes, and dances – to festival guests through nightly live shows.

A giant mirror ball, red and yellow confetti, and two sky dancers ushered in guests to the MERZCI stage. The unveiling of the Z in MERZCI was performed by the mysterious yellow MERZCI Man and assisted by CM and Sons Marketing Manager for PR & Events Femmy Lee Magbanua and Branding Officer Lovelle Bellocillo.

Hosts Gerhard Krystoppher Pagunsan and John Gilbert Arceo, ably assisted by MERZCI Marketing Manager Femmy Lee Magbanua and the MERZCI Dancers, led contestants in the iconic games Siopao Eating Contest and Barquillos Relay. More contestants won MERZCI treats in pasalubong boxes with games like Bring Me, Pinaka-, and the Longest Z. Members from the dancing audience who did the MERZCI SIGN with their hands won customized MERZCI t-shirts. Those who had the letter Z in their names went home with customized MERZCI golf umbrellas.

Festival guests grooved to live music from Batukada de Negros, Aire Band, and 11th hour Band as freebies were tossed to the audience. The last night of the show was graced by 2014 Masskara Queen 1st Runner-up and Miss Merzci Riah Angelica De Ocampo. Right beside the MERZCI stage, the biggest Masskara Festival PHOTOWALL offered FREE photo-taking to locals and tourists.

Meanwhile, the mysterious yellow MERZCI Man cavorted along Lacson Street, gamely posed with locals and tourists and did a surprise appearance at the Masskara Love Dance.

MERCI PURIFIED DRINKING WATER & VITALIFE PURIFIED DRINKING WATER
Complementing its food line, Merzci diversified its business interests in 2003 with the introduction of its bottled water brands distributed around Negros Island.

The purified drinking water undergoes a start of the art MULTI-STEP PROCESS that includes Softening, Reverse Osmosis, Carbon and Micron Filtration, UV Light Treatment, and Ozonation to ensure clean and safe drinking water to its consumers.

TECHNOLOGY & SANITATION
CM & Sons uses semi-automatic food machinery and premium food ingredients to maintain its standards and achieve a more efficient workflow during production.

The company follows strict implementation of hygienic practices among its workforce and sanitary practices in the workplace, living up to its FDA-approved status. Every product is diligently packed and checked for safe storage and consumption.

CORPORATE CONSCIENCE
TEAM MERZCI & NGP GIVES HELP TO NEGROS ORIENTAL
February 20, 2012

Merzci Bakeshop and Negros Grace Pharmacy took a day off from work to do relief operations for the victims of the 6.9-magnitude earthquake in Negros Oriental. Team Merzci led by Jonathan Lo and the Negros Grace Pharmacy team led by Bea Lo Yao gave out canned goods, rice, noodles, bread, gallons of purified drinking water, and vitamins for the residents of Barangay Manghulyawon and Barangay Talayong in the Municipality of La Libertad.

The crew of 28 people took off by the break of dawn of February 16 and headed off to Guihulngan City via Don Salvador Benedicto. Roadside signs by the coast saying “WE NEED FOOD AND WATER” or “SOS” with tents set up on vacant lots are seen left and right on the towns where the impact of the quake was greatly felt. By ten o’clock in the morning, they rendezvoused with Congresswoman Jocelyn Limkaichong who was the one who suggested to the team to give out help to the two remote barangays in La Libertad since previous relief operations have not yet reached these locations at the time. Limkaichong guided the crew to Barangay Manghulyawon where residents, headed by Brgy.  Captain Neri Timtim, have been waiting for the team’s arrival since 8.00 in the morning. It was already raining by the time the goods have been distributed.
Georgia Camero, a Kagawad in Manghulyawon, said that they can still feel the ground shifting for two nights and that some were worried of going back to their hillside huts and opted instead to temporarily live in tents on the flatlands. Fortunately, no one in their community died from the quake.
Barangay Talayong was the next stop for the distribution of relief goods. It was already noontime and pouring hard by the time the residents, headed by Brgy. Captain Teresita Gallosa, was organized for the distribution of goods. They braved standing in the cold rain eager to receive the relief goods since crops have been damaged by the earthquake.

The last stop was the Philippine Red Cross Headquarters in Guihulngan where packs of relief goods and bottles of 1-liter and 5-gallon purified drinking water was received by Mr. Ulysses Sannoy of the PRC NHQ-DMS.

This is the first joint relief operation for Merzci Bakeshop and the Negros Grace Pharmacy. For Merzci, amidst the race to being the most preferred bread, fast food, and pasalubong establishment in the province, it has paused and taken time to lend a helping hand to our island brothers who are in need. While for Negros Grace Pharmacy, activities such as this is held to really reach out to the people and share the blessings NGP has been receiving since 40 years ago. Taking care of friends, customers and the needy have been driving force for Dr. Manuel Lo, the founder of NGP.

TEAM MERZCI RELIEF OPERATION TO BANAGO FIRE VICTIMS
April 30, 2013

Merzci Bakeshop conducted a relief operation last April 25 for the victims of the Banago Fire that devastated over a hundred family houses in Purok Katilingban and Kawayan in Barangay Banago last Wednesday noon. Majority of the affected families came from Purok Katilingban.
At present, Domingo Lacson National High School serves as their evacuation center. Upon arrival of Team Merzci at DLNHS, they were greeted and briefed by Barangay Banago Kagawad Joemarie Maniego who supervised the evacuation accommodations and relief operations with the assistance of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Bacolod City Health Office, and the City Legal Office.

A crew of 13 from Team Merzci, gave out bread and water to more than a hundred affected families.
As soon as the relief goods were unloaded, numerous smiles greeted TEAM MERZCI. One by one, the affected residents stood in line patiently to received what seemed to be a blessing as most of them were left with nothing by the raging fire. Fortunately, no death or injury has been reported as per Kagawad Maniego.

"Wake-up feeling BEAUTIFUL every day..."

HICC- Holistic Integrative Care Center

When we understand our purpose, it is a moment of epiphany. It dawned on me that health should be everybody's concern and top priority.

A recent visit to a one-of-a-kind clinic in Makati City opened a whole new perspective. A question popped up in my mind "Why should we settle for the traditional approach in medicine when we can also reap the benefits of alternative therapies at the same time?"
According to Dr. Imelda S. Edodollon, Medical Director of HICC, "Integrative Medicine is healing-oriented medicine that takes account of the whole person, including all aspects of lifestyle. It emphasizes the therapeutic relationship between practitioner and patient, is informed by evidence, and makes use of all appropriate therapies. It isn’t just medicine. Your care team may also design a plan to help you build healthy behaviors and skills -- like smart eating habits and stress-busting activities. These things can keep you healthy for the long term."
Non-invasive whole-body scan results were astounding as Dr. Meddie discussed the findings. It was accurate enough to reveal issues with my gut and respiratory concerns. What I loved about it is it did not require a blood sample, there was no need for Radiography, and most of all it was painless. The rest of the services they offer are: Therapy Services, Beauty & Wellness, Glutathione Therapy, Hyperthermia, Coffee Enema, Chelation Therapy, Immune System Boost, Mineral Repletion, Photon Therapy, and Ozone Therapy.
Rarely do we see such institutions which focus on the patient's wellness instead of profit. In fact, only a maximum of five patients are accommodated in a day as the treatment is almost a whole day process. It is vital that patients are accompanied by relatives for them to truly understand their medical conditions, how to take care of them, understand the root causes of their condition and how to make the patient’s life more bearable since aftercare is as important as the treatment itself.
Part of the treatment is the consideration of our diet. Chef Arlene Aquino Clemente is certified as a holistic raw food chef in Bali, Indonesia. I had the opportunity to consult her regarding my diet and I was enlightened on the importance of what we eat.
Slots are limited, and advance reservation is advised.
HICC is located at UG-11 CPT Condominium, Calle Estacion, Makati City
Open Monday-Saturday (10am-6pm)

From your classic favorite dishes to new creations, it is a must to give yourself a gastronomic indulgence with a food experience that caters to your palate. Paluto Experience

The word "paluto" means to ask a food item to be cooked. At GoGo Kitchen, the expertise is there and the ingredients are superb. You have the option to go to the live catch market to choose any of the fresh seafood or request the staff to do the purchasing. Then, from the menu, the cooking style can be chosen or you can ask the waiter for the recommendations on how it will be cooked.

With the choices from the procedure, be it fried, boiled, steamed, or served raw, there is the backbone of any superb dish which is the food preparation, aside from the quality of ingredients. Some fish has to be scaled, tuna and other sashimi dishes have to be sliced properly, shells have to be cleaned, and so much more. At GoGo Kitchen, you decide how you want it and sit back to dine. Your own private cooks will tackle the tasks for divine dishes to be served.

Crabs and Other Crustaceans

GoGo Kitchen has the culinary skills to provide beloved taste cravings with the power of texture. There is a dish that consists of crunchy crabs cut into portions that make it easy to consume that is covered with a special sauce. This specific dish is presented with an aligue (crab roe) and salted egg sauce. This sauce and other sauces of GoGo Kitchen add a distinct flavor depth.

Fresh, New Dishes

A classic favorite rice dish is presented as a noodle dish. This Yang Chow pancit has all the yummy elements that has changed the carb factor. It is a touch of culinary brilliance to make something so common into a totally new dish. And, the fried chicken is excellent. It has the crunchiness desired, perfectly cooked inside, and the softness and flavor.

For Family and Friends

Large, filling orders is what GoGo Kitchen is known for. Some orders at the pre-set menu choices can be too much for a single person. Chinese food is meant for sharing and taking home. Abbott Introduces PediaSure Plus #OhMyGrowth (OMG) Park To Provide Educational Experience On Children's Growth And Development

The PediaSure Plus #OhMyGrowth Park roadshow launches, running from November to December, starting with Festival Mall, Alabang

Parents always want the best for their children and ensuring their growth and development is no exception. For this reason, parents like to know if their children are growing at the right height and want to make sure that they are eating the best foods to stay active and healthy as they grow.
To help encourage parents to properly measure their children in order to recognize signs of nutritional inadequacy and keep their growth on track, Abbott is launching the PediaSure Plus #OhMyGrowth (OMG) Park across a number of locations in the Philippines. The park offers a fun and interactive experience for parents and children over three years old. Featuring checkpoints for height, weight, and immunity, the park is designed to educate parents on their children’s nutrition and growth development while letting the kids enjoy fun-filled activities. Currently in Festival Mall, Alabang from Nov. 17-18, 2018, the park is also scheduled to be at SM City Pampanga on Dec. 8-9 and SM Southmall, Las PiƱas on Dec. 15-16.
Complete and balanced nutrition is important for a child’s growth
The first five years is a critical window in a child’s life for bone growth, with 60 percent of a child’s adult height attributed to growth at this stage. However, this period is also the time when a child is most likely to encounter barriers to growth such as poor nutrition, feeding difficulties or frequent illnesses. It is important to ensure that a child is getting a complete and balanced nutrition as they grow and that appropriate nutrition is introduced in time so that the child can stay on track in achieving his full growth potential.
An oral nutritional supplement like PediaSure Plus can help provide the proper nutrition a child needs by helping to fill nutritional gaps. PediaSure Plus is clinically proven, with 37 growth nutrients and triple protein complex, to support muscle and bone growth. A clinical study among Filipino children showed that drinking two servings of PediaSure Plus with three balanced meals everyday resulted in visible growth within eight weeks — and helped to improve appetite, weight, and height, reduced sick days and sustained proportional growth.

From L-R Abbott Nutrition Medical Director Dr. Jun Dimaano, PediaSure mommy Suzette Go, Melissa Ricks and Abbott Philippines Marketing Director Ajay Asrani
Dr. Jose Rodolfo Dimaano Jr. – medical director at Abbott explains: “To support their overall growth and development, children require complete and balanced nutrition. PediaSure Plus provides essential macronutrients and micronutrients needed by a child to stay healthy and well-nourished. Its consistent use helps children to meet their dietary requirements of key nutrients for growth. This is especially important because many Filipinos are deficient in nutrients such as calcium, iron, vitamin A and C – all needed to support the optimal growth of children.”
At the launch event, celebrity mom Melissa Ricks – mother to three-year-old Keira, spoke about the importance of ensuring optimum nutrition with PediaSure Plus: “It was hard to make sure Keira was getting all the nutrition she needs when she was growing up because of her food preferences. But she loves the taste of PediaSure Plus – especially the chocolate one! With her having that twice a day, I can rest assured that she’s getting the proper nutrition she needs for her health and growth development – boosting her height, weight, and immunity. It really helps me to make sure she is eating right, even on the busy days.”

Embracing Life and Finding Solutions

Good and sad things happen. How to solve it.

My mind goes blank from worrying. Last night, I called my two dogs, Nala and Luna, by the wrong names, calling them Fluffy and Bailey, my two dogs that had passed away. That must have been because my mind was focused on things that happened many years ago or Alzheimer's is starting. So, it's time for me to take co
conut oil and other brain vitamins and do brain exercises. Soduko is a mystery. Crossword puzzles aren't my thing. So, I will just play a match 3 game. That is a way of problem-solving, isn't it?

Silence is better
At times, I want to stop talking as anger management is that of shutting up when I have nothing nice to say and will ruin relationships. All people have their flaws, including me, we make mistakes but there are some errors that are life-threatening. There are preventable problems but sometimes, we just dive in, heedless of the warnings coz of the temptations such as a delicious slice of cake served in front of a person that has diabetes.

Temptations and complacency
Life happens in the complacency that all is okay when it is not truly okay, it is just comparing the dilemma to others who seem to be more miserable. We cannot carry each other's burdens but we can help others to carry theirs. Not all things should be on our shoulders, as independence is necessary.

Work as a solace
Work is a solace and making money is highly necessary in this world to survive and thrive. Work is a solace though chores are a bore. Things have to get done and mastering the art of procrastination isn't an option. Keeping in mind that there are aggressive and loud-mouthed people who berate daily about everything and are unproductive, keep to the tasks on hand and be productive.

Lack of productivity

That is a sign of illness when it comes to mental health. The lack of motivation might simply be a cover up for others to take over the responsibilities. It is a dilemma to find someone who wants to share their woes and regrets and still drag you down with the depths of their miserable lives. Liars are deceitful by peg and be aware that it can be in the guise of caring when all they care about is themselves - and money.

Keep away from bad people. Keep away from those who put you down. Keep away from those who bring you down. Keep away from those who destroy others to make themselves look better. Keep away from those who thrive and expand your complaints and make it a big deal.

Still in gratitude

I thank God for work and online contest and promos. I thank Him for the people that I have to care for and the ones who want me to care for them. I thank God for keeping the ones I love safe and healthy. Above all, I thank God that He is in control and maybe, that can help me stop worrying as He will provide the solutions.
I am grateful for the help. I am grateful for the responsibility. I am indeed grateful as unexpected things do happen.

At the end of the day, we only have ourselves to face, and the truth. We cannot edit yesterday. Move on and make the mind set that of being productive.

Dog Dies from Lepto: Find Out How It Happened

When it isn't a rat bite!

Most common illnesses and diseases that happen to humans can occur in our canine friends. Though we try to take care of our pets, there are times that they get adventurous. A yard or garden has many things that can make our dogs ill, such as frogs that they will try to chase and eat. Outside the home, there are streets and canals.

Leptospirosis

When a human wades in flood water that is infected with rat pee and does have an open would or other entry points of the bacteria-laden water, that might cause lepto. This bacterial infection is potentially fatal.

Dog dies from lepto

According to the vet, the dog was suffering from lepto that led to parvo that lead to the ultimate breakdown of the system. The gums were turning yellow. It is a difficult time for the owners as it was unexpected and something that happened that is rather bizarre and unbelievable so I will not mention the breed or the place of occurrence. I am writing this so people can be aware that it does happen and prevent such occurrences.

The dog was walking around outside. And, that was a usual thing, nothing out of routine. The dog drank from a puddle of water on the floor. It must have been dirty, bacterial laden - and that puddle of water lead to the dog getting leptospiros.

We care for our pets. Such matters are unexpected. Being aware that these things do happen, we have to be more vigilant.

A Junker's Point of View: Trash is Treasure

Living in a trash dump to a heaven-sent place

We all have our woes in life. It is difficult not to compare our problems, thinking we are better off. There is that thing called ranking. Yet, our problems are our problems and when we notice another way of looking at what other people feel about the concern, we may seem very ungrateful.

The comfort zone for various people is different. Some have lived a life of strife, not knowing anything better, and what we think is terrible is actually fabulous from them.

Real Story:

There is this 20-year-old who lived in a trash dump working as a junker. He has no real home nor gets to eat more than once a day. He is one of the poorest of the poor but working to make money by picking up trash like plastic bottles and paper to sell it.

Then, he was arrested along with others and detained. He is happy. Probably, one of the happiest people on earth to be sent to a detention cell. It might seem crazy to some people for anyone to be happy to be behind bars.

That young man is happy because he lives in a cleaner place. He has food to eat, a bathroom to use, and gets to watch TV. He was able to eat Jollibee food. He says, this detention cell is like a hotel for me and was thanking the arresting officers for giving him a better life.

Life is half full or half empty, depending on your point of view.
