The Natural Way to Feel More Empowered As a Woman

No longer are women viewed upon as a far inferior member of society compared to the male counterpart—not having a voice, not contributing to anything other than to their family or selves. Women today are not just regarded as homemakers, but nation-builders as well. Beyond the confines of their houses, they, too, can make a huge difference––be it in the economic, social or political arena.

From being a household queen to boardroom’s rockstar, women run on very hectic and active schedules on a daily basis. So imagine the strength they have to possess & use during their everyday grinds, not to mention the stress and pressure they have to endure just to fulfill the duties bestowed upon them.

Nevertheless, they’re no “Wonder Woman” at all, nor our very own heroine “Darna” so as not to feel exhausted and tired from chores or work. They’re also humans, who need to take a much-needed break from being, let's be honest here, the jack-of-all-trades.

This March—declared as International Women’s Month—is the best time to celebrate their power and influence with the gift of beauty and wellness that each one of them truly deserves. What a better way to have it than a rosy, bouncy and shiny hair to begin with.

Because it is the mane that a person is mainly looked upon, at first sight, it’s a conscious effort for everyone, especially the ladies, to make it aesthetically pleasing to the eye. So a regular bottled shampoo and conditioner, plus treatment are, more often than not, the solutions to turn to, regardless of the harmful effects that they may cause later.

Some of the dangerous chemicals the products used in popular hair treatments contain are too much to handle, especially by a fragile hair follicle. Their main damage being mane breakage is hard to live with. Tricky it is to treat the resulting tress that’s less weak and elastic. Though negligible, other repercussions like allergic reaction and scalp irritation also need keen attention and an urgent fix.

Where else do women usually turn to for remedy other than a beauty salon. After a pampering sesh, they may opt to avail any of their formulated solution for upkeep. For optimum results, it’s best to combine it with NOVUHAIR 3-in-1 pack to promote robust locks and scalp.

NOVUHAIR is the only tress growth product in the market containing 19 natural herbs, essential oils and co-factor nutrients working synergistically to help get rid of mane problems from growth to vanishing. It deeply penetrates to help rejuvenate, nourish, maintain moisture in the scalp and hair, and improve the overall appearance of the tress. Lastly, it’s an effective and safe solution to arrest hair loss.

So come and celebrate womanhood at your favorite salon anytime this March. Much better if you can make it regularly to bond with your sisters or amigas over a hair spa or treatment. After all, your crowning glory deserves a second look.

McDonald's Extends National Breakfast Day to Albay and Marawi

On March 19, McDonald’s celebrated National Breakfast Day by distributing thousands of free Longgadesal sandwiches to customers all over the country.

Aiming to bring happiness to more people this year, McDonald’s also brought the National Breakfast Day cheer to certain communities that were in need of an extra dose of positivity. Through the distribution of its newest breakfast offering, McDonald’s provided a memorable breakfast experience to fellow Filipinos who were displaced during the recent eruption of Mt. Mayon in Albay, and to the evacuees of Marawi, who fled their homes during to the armed conflict.

Last March 5 and 6, 2018, McDonald’s gave thousands of free Longgadesal sandwiches across five evacuation centers in Albay, Legazpi. The team also visited the Bakwit Village Transition Shelter in Marawi last March 11, 2018, where the evacuees were delighted to taste McDonald’s newest breakfast offering.  The simple act of giving the gift of a free sandwich brought light to their day and spread cheer amongst the evacuess. .

As part of its annual tradition, McDonald’s continues to feature inspiring stories of hope and new beginnings or “bagong simula” through an online video that is released on National Breakfast Day.

This year, McDonald’s shed light on the moving story of mothers who gave birth to children, or their “baby bakwits” in evacuation centers during the Marawi siege. The video features the visit of veteran journalist Atom Araullo, as he listened to the stories of the mothers’ everyday struggles and hopes—stories that echoed their desire to rebuild their lives. Amidst the difficulties of living away from their homes, they managed to nurture their newborns and remain helpful for the future that lies ahead of them and their “Baby Bakwits.”

“National Breakfast Day has always been about giving customers a memorable breakfast experience,” says Kenneth S. Yang, McDonald's Philippines’ President and Chief Executive Officer. “This year, McDonald’s reached out to our fellow Filipinos who are most in need, following recent events that happened in their communities. We’re happy that we were able to extend the goodness of a McDonald’s breakfast to our fellow countrymen in Albay and Marawi,” Yang concluded.

CHOOSE MALAYSIA

The Malaysia Promotion Programme in Manila (MPP Manila) serves as a platform to jointly promote Malaysia’s capabilities in various sectors through Public-Private Partnership involving government agencies, private sectors as well as Government Linked Companies (GLCs).

MPP is a campaign aiming to create Malaysia’s branding globally and positioning Malaysia in the Philippines’ market. It is also to showcase Malaysia as a preferred partner for trade and investment, tourism destination, culinary allure, hub for Islamic finance and as a gateway to ASEAN.

The three main components of the MPP Manila are:

Citarasa Malaysia from 11 – 13 March 2018
Malaysia Business Forum on 12 March 2018
Worldbex Exhibition from 14 –18 March 2018

Business-to-business (B2B) meetings between Malaysian exporters and Philippines importers under “Citarasa Malaysia” are also on-going in conjunction with the Export Acceleration Mission (EAM) on Food & Beverages. This programme was held from 11–13 March 2018 at Glorietta Shopping Mall. A total of 25 companies from the food and Halal section are involved in this business matching programme.

Malaysian exhibitors will showcase and promote Malaysian office furniture, building and construction materials as well as services during the exhibition. This exhibition serves as an excellent platform for Malaysian exporters to explore business opportunities as well as establish a stronger network in the Philippines.

The Philippines is an important business partner for Malaysia. In 2017, Philippines was Malaysia’s 15th largest trading partner with a total trade valued at USD 5.94 billion (RM 25.51 billion, increased by 26.1% from 2016). 15th largest export destination, at USD 3.85 billion (RM 16.53 billion, increased by 21.2%); and 19th largest source of imports, valued at USD 2.09 billion (RM 8.98 billion, increased by 36.1% as compared to 2016). A 'Sunny Playtime' with Iya and Primo Arellano

Celebrity mom Iya Villania-Arellano admits she has forgotten how relatively easy her daily routines were before Baby Primo arrived. “I’m not sure how I balance my career with being a mom and a wife; it just happens!” she beams.

When you know what's important and what you need to get done, then you make it happen. It's important that I list things down so I don't forget. I really need to put things down on my calendar even if its date night with Drew or a playdate for Primo.

It’s no wonder why Iya was the natural choice of Cosmetique Asia, the makers of Bambini Baby Cologne, to be its newest endorser, together with Primo. Bambini Baby Cologne underwent a brand refresh with a new look guaranteed to appeal to the young ones.

We wanted to focus on the playful bond that kids share with their parents. With Bambini, we make these precious random moments more enjoyable. It is evident even in our packaging. We made sure they are attractive enough for children so in choosing what variant to buy, parents and kids get to have fun and interact. All these while maintaining the high-quality standard and other requirements most parents are looking for — hypoallergenic and dermatologist tested. In the near future, we want to launch a complete range of child-specific products with a fun loving vibe,” says Cosmetique Asia’s Vice President for Sales and Corporate Development, Tim Chuongco.

Inspired by mom-and-child bonding activities and fun elements of nature, the new and improved Bambini Baby Cologne features five new scents: the floral and sweet “Morning Tickles,” the calming “Starry Lullaby,” the clean and breezy “Ocean Kisses,” the cottony fresh “Cotton Cuddles,” and — Iya and Primo’s favorite — the citrusy and fun “Sunny Playtime.”

“We love Sunny Playtime. It's just the scent I prefer on Primo. It has a nice, mild, yummy scent that makes Primo nakakagigil even more! I also love how playful and inviting the packaging is. We actually have to hide the bottles from Primo because he likes to point to the mom and baby animals on the sticker front, then open the bottle to put some cologne on. Baka maligo na sa cologne eh,” Iya laughs.

For Iya, as with all working moms, the greatest challenge is to be there for her child “every moment he does something new or silly” and wanting to be there to witness it. And adding to the challenge and excitement is her announcement of having another baby boy. “Primo doesn't really understand that yet so we're enjoying him as he is for now. When he starts to get curious with my growing belly, then we'll start explaining,” she shares.

For a perfect mom-and-baby playtime, Iya and Primo recently joined toddlers and their parents for the official unveiling of the new Bambini Baby Cologne at Glorietta 3 Activity Center. Dubbed the Bambini Baby Cologne Family Bootcamp, the wonderful kiddie event transformed the venue into a wonderland of fun games and activities for kids, including a ball pit, a bouncy castle, giant puzzle blocks and a larger-than-life coloring book, where guests and their children could bond and enjoy the little surprises the activities bring out.

My grandchild, Renee Quema for Bambini's "Life's Little Surprises"
As Bambini relaunches with a new product for babies and kids, it hopes to be a part of every parent and child’s small moments and big adventures. Available in three sizes — 25ml, 50ml and 125ml — and packaged in an easy-to-go grip curvy bottle, the Bambini Baby Cologne lets parents and children enjoy life’s little surprises anytime, anywhere.

A celebration of genuine Filipino craftsmanship

With the joint efforts of the Chamber of Furniture Industries of the Philippines (CFIP), Cebu Furniture Industries Foundation (CFIF), and Pampanga Furniture Industries Foundation (PFIF), the Philippines International Furniture Show (PIFS) once again brings spotlight to world-class furniture designers and their collections, furnishings, interior decors, and lighting fixtures that are truly Filipino.

PIFS is the must-attend event for the design industry. Expect to see the largest showcase of Filipino ingenuity in latest and innovative design and world-class quality workmanship in all our pieces and collections,” said Eduardo Zuluaga, Overall Event Chairman for PIFS and President of Chamber of Furniture Industries of the Philippines, “We see PIFS as the ultimate collaboration of Filipino Collection. It is a trade event where manufacturers and designers show the world the ingenuity of our local manufacturers and designers, how we interpret the latest industry trends, and in many cases, take the lead in design innovation.”

This year, PIFS will also be featuring and showing tribute to renowned artists in the country. “For the special lobby installations, we have collaborated with three famed artists in this generation: Dex Fernandez – the artist behind the rounded, many legged "Garapata" character taking over cities across the world in the form of stickers and street art; Robert Alejandro – painter, award-winning graphic artist, crafter, visual merchandiser, and one of the pillars of Filipino arts and crafts shop Papemelroti; and Tata Montilla – an artist with a natural interest on textures and various surface finishing, and abstractions that show his inner sanctum of balance and life's uncertainties,” said Ina Gaston, Event Chair for CFIF. “We also have a special tribute to the late Osmundo Esguerra, a self-made furniture craftsman who excelled in woodwork and developing a unique style that combines traditional and contemporary aesthetics to highlight the organic beauty of wood. Esguerra then restored antique furniture and catered to some of the biggest names in the country.”, added Gaston.

The only design-led trade show in the country

Branded as the ultimate design event, PIFS will once again be held alongside the Interior & Design Manila (IDM), the most sought-after event for architects, interior designers, and design enthusiasts.
