GOGO Kitchen at Seascape Village Brings Back Memories of Seafood Market

Fresh, Fabulous Feast: Best Value for Your Money

If you remember Seafood Market, one of the original paluto restaurants in the Philippines, you surely will want to take a food trip to GOGO Kitchen at Seascape Village, which is located right beside Sofitel at the CCP complex.

If you haven't experienced that paluto resto which was around a couple of decades ago, then it might be time to try the newly-opened GOGO Kitchen, which is owned by Garrick Go, the son of Robero Go of Seafood Market.

My Food Trip Down Memory Lane

My daughter, Timi, and son, Raymund during the holiday season. Picture taken at Seafood Market, Makati Ave.
Many of our family celebrations were held at Seafood Market. To find the same cooking was a superb throwback. Those memories were kept alive by my palate that missed the crispiness of the deep-fried suahe, the Yang Chow fried rice with whole asado bits and the sweet, tender shrimp, among the other dishes.

I recalled how Thomas Cam, the Macau casino dealer sent here by Stanley Ho to teach the new dealers of the Floating Casino, got all excited when he found out that Seafood Market had blue crabs and king crabs, which was then at 1,000 pesos a kilo. My father, Engr. Alonso Dominguez, and him, and of course, me, went to Seafood Market that very same day.

New Dishes and Cooking Style

The Salted Egg Floss topping is unique to GOGO Kitchen. That is what you see on top of the shrimps and the crab dishes. It is a delight to consume, with no overwhelming tones, with the melt-in-the-mouth goodness due to the way it was prepared. Eaten alone, with rice, or as a complement to a dish, it is a standout original food creation.

HotPot

As the 3 cup chicken was presented, continuously boiling in its own oil, the richness of the marinade was integrated to soften the chicken.

Best Value

Even if you compare the prices with some outdoor palutos, you will discover that a top-notch, full-service resto does have affordable prices. And, the quality of cooking? Superb.

The average price of cooking charge

Taking a trip down memory lane with the kitchen prowess Garrick Go, son of Ramon Go of Seafood Market was more than just a treat. It is an extension of well-loved memories and I am glad to have the opportunity to make more unforgettable new ones at GOGO Kitchen.

A Musical Night at the Museum

Multi-awarded NAMCYA Winners top bill symphonic band concert

PASAY CITY, METRO MANILA (July 25, 2018)— Outstanding winners of the National Music Competitions for Young Artists will captivate our hearts with “Serenata sa Ayala” on August 29, 2018 6:30pm at the Ayala Museum. Bask in a night of classical, contemporary and Filipino music featuring the 2016 NAMCYA Youth Symphonic Band First prize winner Cardona Ocho Band conducted by 2008 NAMCYA Oboe Category First prize winner Franz Ramirez, 2011 and 2015 NAMCYA Piano Category First prize winner Gabriel Allan Paguirigan, and 5-time NAMCYA Flute Category First prize winner John Raymond Sarreal. The concert is part of NAMCYA’s 45th Anniversary celebration, presented in partnership with Ayala Museum.

Throughout the years, NAMCYA has been at the helm of discovering and nurturing our young Filipino musicians to become successful world-class artists, and this year in celebration of their 45th Anniversary, they will highlight four of their most successful alumni.
2012 ALIW Awards Best Instrumentalist Nominee, and Sarreal Music Academy founder, John Raymond Sarreal is one of the few NAMCYA multiple category winners, bagging the 1995, 1998, 2001, 2004 and 2008 Flute category first prize on every age group he competed in. He has been featured twice as a soloist of the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra and has performed with the Metro Manila Concert Orchestra (as principal flutist from 2004-2012), the Manila Symphony Orchestra, the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra and the ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra. Raymond has been a part of both the South East Asian Youth Orchestra and the Asian Youth Orchestra which performed around Asia and Australia.

Another NAMCYA history maker is Gabriel Allan Paguirigan bagging the 2011 and 2015 Top Prizes in the piano category. The young virtuoso is now a sought-after piano instructor, concert pianist and collaborator featured several times by the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra. He was invited to perform in different venues around the Philippines, Asia, and Europe. Most recently, Gabby together with 2017 NAMCYA Flute Category 2nd Prize winner John Owen Castro, won the coveted Grand Prize at the Princess Galyani Vadhana International Chamber Music Competition in Thailand.
Cardona Ocho is a Brass Band started as a group of self-taught musicians from a fishing village in the eastern part of Rizal Province. The group was pioneered in the 1920’s by Jose Francisco, popularly known as Joseng Bombardino, aptly named for his mastery and musical eloquence with his “bombardino” {Euphonium}. Amando San Jose, also a self-taught musician, took over the reins and shaped the music of the band by both the discipline and the expressiveness of his character. In the 1980’s Cardona Ocho continued to grow musically capping the prestigious Serenata ’84 National Championship held at the Folk Arts Theater under the baton of Romeo San Jose, eldest son of Amando San Jose. In 2016, the group reigned supreme after winning the Grand Prize in the NAMCYA Youth Symphonic Band Competitions held at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP). For the coming concert, the group will be conducted by Franz Miguel Ramirez; 2008 NAMCYA Oboe Category First prize winner, ABS-CBN Philharmonic orchestra Principal Oboist, and Great Grandson of Amando San Jose.

The concert will be at the Ayala Museum on August 29, 2018, 6:30 PM and tickets are available via Ticketworld and Ayala Museum. Ticket prices are Php 1000, Php 700, Php 560 (Ayala Museum Members), Php 500 (Senior Citizens), and Php 300 (Students).

How To Be a Hopeful Romantic Instead of a Hopeless One

Have you nearly given up on finding that one great love but know that he or she is out there? Do you tend to ignore the chances that are there? Have you folded your arms to accept that lonely fate?

Feeling the loneliness, you may have started to think that you may never find a mate and have stopped trying. So, to not appear desperate, you may try to accept the fact that being single is great when deep in your heart, it is not.

You Deserve A Mate

There is no need to feel lonely anymore. There is a way to find that special someone who is also looking for love. It is possible to meet the right person when you decide it is time to check who is out there. And, to do so, you must get communication lines open. So, unfold those arms and grab the chances that offer hope, as one can always be a hopeful romantic instead of a hopeless one.

Pen Pal Upgrade

Decades ago, many developed long-lasting relationships by having pen pals. It was a long and slow process to develop a relationship that way as the correspondence was via snail mail. To find a pen pal, one would get access to the database of the ones to write to by joining a free or paid club.

Nowadays, with the dawn of the Internet, there is hardly anyone who writes letters to correspond via snail mail anymore. It is no longer possible to join those kinds of pen pal clubs as those have been replaced by other online mediums. One of the best alternatives that today’s world has for us for finding the right person for you is to join an online dating site.

Like-Minded People

Looking for the right one is easier since like-minded people also go on dating sites. That aids greatly in eliminating the ones who are not interested in a relationship or are just not available. The various dating websites are for different kind of relationship seekers. Some might just want to get a hook up while other sites are exclusively for those who are serious. These kinds of sites filter the available partners to cater to the requirements of their members.

As you might have experienced before, investing in someone who isn't really into long-term relationships is a big waste of time and effort, it also can be emotionally taxing. So much time may have passed with failed relationships and you deserve a new chance. But going out to bars and other places might no longer be the right thing to do, as you might want to keep a new and blossoming relationship private.

Ability to Choose

They say that there is a lot of fish in the ocean, yet you do want the chance to be able to select the right one for you. Dating a lot is a good idea but not just anyone will do. You might want to get a sneak peek about how the person looks like, how their point of view is, and other things like what they want in a relationship. It is also may seem difficult to find a selection of available dates - unless you use a dating website.

Get Yourself Out There And Explore

As we get older, we might be without a partner for many reasons to include being widowed or divorced. It might have been too long a time since you had someone to call your own. It is not too late.

There is a free dating site for those who are looking for true love. The right companion might be just found by using at the tip of your fingertips. You don’t really have to pay an arm and a leg to find love in your life. There is no need to pay to find your true love as there are many free online dating websites.

You may think that setting up a profile on a dating website and putting yourself out there may be extreme, but the results may surprise you. Be hopeful. Think positive.

Taking that first step and go for it as it might be the opportunity that you ignored which would help you find the one you have been dreaming about. Don't hesitate and see what's out there. You'll never know unless you try. Don't let go of this opportunity. Isn't it about time to stop being lonely?

Festival Mall, Alabang, Muntinlupa City – June 17, 2018

In honor of our Super Dad on Father’s Day, Hakata Ikkousha Manila had invited all interested dads and ramen lovers to participate in this eating contest to be the first Hakata Ikkousha Manila’s Ultimate Ramen Champion.

The eating contest started at 2:30pm, and there were 14 participants divided into 2 batches with 7 participants per batch who competed for the 1st round to advance to face-off challenge.

Batch 1

Batch 2

The winner of each batch was determined by the number of bowls and the weight left on their last bowl before they were able to proceed to the Ultimate Ramen Eating Face Off.

On the face-off round, Hakata Ikkousha Manila learned that the finalists were both social media influencers. The winner of the first batch is a blogger, Michael Zuñiga of Katooga.ph and the winner of the second batch is Lord Ancheta of Hour Philippines TV.

For the face-off round, whoever is the fastest to finish his bowl will get the title of Ultimate Ramen Champion. The kitchen challenged the social media influencers to take on Ikkousha’s God Fire Ramen (spicy ramen).

Congratulations to the 1st Hakata Ikkousha’s Ultimate Ramen Champion, Mr. Lord Ancheta. The winner took home P 5,000 cash and P10, 000 worth of dining gift certificates. All participants received P1, 000 gift certificates as tokens of appreciation.

Ms. Marivic Tomoda, Owner would like to express her gratefulness to everyone for the support to the event, especially to some media friends who covered the exciting contest.
