Colorful Dreams: Brigada Eskwela
As part of the Colour, Joy, and Love corporate social responsibility program of Nippon Paint which is implemented in 15 Asian countries, the Pamplona Elementary School Central was the first school to benefit from the "Colorful Dreams" support of Nippon Paint.
This school painting activity was conducted in line Brigada Eskwela Adopt-a-School program and the Department of Education call for the "bayanihan" (cooperative aid) spirit of private companies to support such projects for public schools.
This whole day activity was fully supported by Nippon Paint, supplying all the needs from paint brushes to the right color paints required for the school chairs and walls. To further support this activity, the school children, teachers, and other volunteers such as those from the Philippine School of Interior Design Alumni Association, contributed their time and effort, starting early morning to be able to finish the large project of making the school become newly painted by late afternoon.
What I noticed upon attending this activity at that was done before the opening of the 2016 school year was that there was a profusion of supplies and that the air has no "paint" smell even though there were a lot of school chairs and walls being painted.
As I went around the school, it was heart-warming to see how focused the volunteers and children were in taking on the tasks, and how so many people arrived to help give the school a "makeover". It was such a happy occasion.
A grandmother of one of the students told me that the Nippon Paint they used which was the Green Choice Series, can be removed easily using baby wipes.
She also stressed on the fact that it had no strong smell that will make you feel sick and dizzy, unlike other paints. Students working on painting the 2nd floor, showed me how they learned how to mix paint, while the boys painting the school chairs demonstrated to me the handyman skills they learned. One boy kindly accommodated my request to see what was in one of the many gift bags that Nippon Paint donated for the volunteers.
